Dry eye is a common condition with a wide spectrum of symptoms and treatment plans. Dryness occurs when your eyes do not produce enough tears or when the quality of the tears is compromised. Our tear film is made up of 3 layers, the oily outer layer, the watery middle layer, and the inner mucous layer. If there is a disruption with any of these 3 layers, dry eye and inflammation is the result.
Common symptoms of dry eye include irritated and red eyes, gritty or sand paper feeling with each blink, watery eyes, and sensitivity to light and wind.
At Moore Optometry, we thoroughly evaluate and diagnose your specific cause for dryness and formulate a treatment plan tailored to treating your specific case.
In addition to at-home treatment plans, we also offer multiple different in-office treatments, including OptiLIGHT, OptiPLUS, and iLux.
OptiLight by Lumenis (Intense Pulsed Light Therapy)OptiLight is a non-invasive IPL treatment used to manage dry eye disease associated with inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction. The therapy helps reduce inflammation and improves oil gland function, supporting a healthier tear film. It is also an effective treatment option for patients with ocular rosacea. In addition to ocular benefits, IPL may provide secondary cosmetic improvements to the surrounding skin.
OptiPlus by Lumenis: (Radiofrequency)
Radiofrequency treats dry eye by utilizing heat to melt the clogged oils in our eyelids so they can better lubricate the ocular surface and prevent our tearfilm from evaporating too fast.
Additional benefits to radiofrequency: tightens loose skin around the eye without surgery, stimulates collagen production, and improves fine lines.
iLux:A thermal treatment used to heat the oil glands of the eyelids with direct contact of heat on the glands and mild pressure to fully express all melted oils. Unclogging the oil glands allows more stability to our tear film and restores the balance of the oily outer layer.
We treat and monitor many ocular diseases and when necessary, co-manage further treatment needed with prompt referrals to the top specialists in the area.
